Florafolia...bring May flowers
May is the month for evergreen azaleas. One of my favorites is Hardy Gardenia. The 2.5-3" double flowers bloom in early May and are almost pure white with just a dash of golden flecks inside. The foliage is a dark green and bit glossy - not so far off from a true gardenia leaf. The plant only grows to 2 or 3' high by 3 or 4' wide, so its one of the few shrubs that I have in my perennial gardens. It is a Lynwood Hybrid.
