Florafolia...in the evening
Linda Stuart Azalea

'Linda Stuart's' 11/2" double flowers bloom in early to mid spring. The salmon pink buds add a colorful element to the green foliage and white tulips in the evening garden. When the buds open to salmon tipped creamy white trusses they will cover the plant.

This evergreen shrub will grow to maybe 3' wide by 4' or so high in about ten years. As one of the few shrubs in my perennial garden. I will attempt to keep it rather lower by pruning it lightly after each flowering. This timing will not interupt bud formation. This small leaved azalea does well in lots of sun, but does enjoy some dappled light in the first half of the day. Azaleas (truly Rhododendrons) like an acidic, well drained soil rich in organic matter.

'Linda Stuart' is a Kurume hybrid and won a 2008 Rhododendron of the year award from the American Rhododendron Society.
